18th Century French cot / day bed

The kit is made from metal alloy and is very easy to assemble with an mdf base.

12cm long

9.5cm high

6.5cm deep

It is a simple kit. Before you assemble the kit you will need to remove all the tiny slithers of casting spurs. These can be removed using a wire brush and some of the thicker spurs using snips. I always sand the metal so that it is smooth and there are no small sharp protrusions of metal.

Preferrably spray painted if using paints to avoid clumpy build up of paints. You could opt for an old worn look with rust and negleted paint work or maybe something pretty like a soft french grey highlighted with old blue.

The base of the cot is a simple rectangle of mdf. You could paint or cover this before inserting it However if you want to be really intricate you could exclude this completly and create an open net base using card or wire. Fiddly but fun.

The metal chair is fresh from its mould and so you will need to remove any small metal strands from the casting process. The underside of the chair reveals the underside of the pad so this would be lovely covered in a fine hessian or even a small pad to make it appear as if it has been upholstered using springs.

The kit comes in 5 sections - two ends, front, back and base. Glue together using super glue. Its very easy to assemble. You may find that one of the loops at the side is blocked. I try check them before they are despatched but on the off chance that I miss one you can gently drill this out or using a round pointy metal file you can create the hole in the soft metal.
